Environment Canada has issued a weather update for Oakville and Burlington Thursday night (Feb. 23).
While areas of freezing drizzle are coming to an end, hazards include periods of freezing drizzle with icy and slippery conditions.
«Periods of freezing drizzle will continue. Temperatures are forecast to briefly rise above zero this evening, bringing an end to the freezing drizzle, the updated Freezing Drizzle Advisory states. «Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.»
Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create «icy surfaces,» the advisory states.
