A CN Railway employee has died in a “fatal incident” that occurred on Canadian National Railway (CN) property in Montreal’s east end. The incident took place in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, and authorities are currently investigating the matter. While CN has not yet confirmed the time or nature of the incident, a spokesperson for the company stated that a CN employee was involved in the incident.

In a statement to CTV, CN spokesperson Jonathan Abecassis expressed condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the employee who lost their life. He also noted that the company will not be providing further details at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Fatal incidents on railway property are a concern for the industry and the public, and they often lead to scrutiny of railway safety measures. It is unclear at this time what caused the incident or if any safety measures were in place to prevent it.

CN is a major employer in the transportation sector, with over 26,000 employees across Canada and the United States. The company operates a vast network of railways, including intermodal terminals, ports, and transloading facilities. As the investigation into this incident continues, questions will be raised about the safety practices of CN and other railway companies, and how they can improve to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
