Canada captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored her 100th career goal for the national women’s team to open the scoring on Friday night against Czechia at the world championship in Brampton, Ont.

Blayre Turnbull set Poulin up on a two-on-one and the captain made no mistake, going to her backhand to beat goalie Blanka Skodova at 8:03 of the first period.

Poulin joins Hayley Wickenheiser, Danielle Goyette and Jayna Hefford as Canadians to hit the 100-goal mark.

The 32-year-old Poulin has scored the game-winning goal in three Olympic finals.

Canada also has won the past two world championships with Poulin as captain.
