Why Big Brother Canada 11 Is The Messiest Season Ever

Only a few weeks in, Big Brother Canada season 11 has already cemented itself as the messiest season in the show’s history. The season started like most BBCAN seasons, with a cast of 16 all-new houseguests. Perhaps capitalizing off of the success of the Knives Out franchise (and the recent reality hit, The Traitors), Big Brother Canada 11 features a “whodunit” theme, with the house being referred to as the, “BBCAN Manor.”

Unfortunately, Big Brother Canada season 11 garnered controversy before it even began. Ahead of the premiere, the show announced that it would be doing away with live feeds for the season. They would be replaced with curated, “Digital Dailies,” which are daily drops of video content from inside the house. The move was met with immense backlash from fans, and kicked off the first controversy in what has become the most chaotic season of the show to date.

Big Brother Canada 11 Has Had Unprecedented Drama

Big Brother Canada 11 has had a very unconventional beginning to the game. Notably, three of the first five eliminated players self-evicted. While Amal Bashir and Vanessa MacTavish left the show for undisclosed personal reasons, the recent self-eviction of Zach Neilson was a drama-filled event that will live on in Big Brother Canada history. Zach was running the game for the first several weeks, but he found himself exposed and targeted. However, he and his alliance partner, Ty McDonald, decided to make an unprecedented move that sent the house into chaos.

Zach and Ty made the decision to strategically out a “cheating” scandal by Hope Agbolosoo, who received a secret note from his girlfriend in his clothing, and kept it hidden from production. Hope told Zach and Ty about the note, and the two held onto the information until it was clear that Hope wasn’t going to save Zach from being nominated, and that Zach was going to be voted out. When they revealed the note in a desperate attempt to save Zach, the season went from unconventional to entirely chaotic. The scandal has led to major drama in the house, including confrontations, shouting matches, and fascinating gameplay.

Big Brother Canada 11 Is An Unpredictable Season

The situation led the show’s producers to step in and address the matter, which included a game punishment for Hope, and letters from home for the rest of the houseguests. However, Zach and Ty, unsatisfied with Hope’s punishment, threatened to quit the game over what they deemed as production mishandling the situation. Zach eventually did quit, after realizing that he was going to be voted out anyway. He even tried to convince Ty to walk out with him. However, Ty decided to stay at the last minute, and Zach’s exit has opened up the game for everyone else.

Zach was clearly the biggest character on the season, and with his departure, the rest of the game is now very uncertain. Nearly every player still has a chance to win as the show moves into the jury phase. That’s because Zach, the season’s villain, was a forceful, controlling player who limited other players’ mobility. Now that he’s quit the game, the players he aligned with, like Santina Carlson, have more freedom to take control of their own games. Hopefully, that means that the season continues to be thrilling and unpredictable.
