More snow on the way.

A winter storm is possible Friday night (March 3) into Saturday morning and Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Barrie, Collingwood and Hillsdale. And a winter storm warning for Innisfil, New Tecumseth and Angus.

“A Texas low is expected to bring heavy snow and strong winds to a large swath of southern Ontario,” the advisory states. “Snow will begin Friday evening and quickly become heavy at times. Heavy snow in combination with strong easterly winds will create significantly reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.”

There remains a great deal of uncertainty regarding snowfall amounts for this system, Environment Canada said.

Winter storm warnings, snowfall warnings or winter weather travel advisories may be issued as the event draws near.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
