Vancouver Police are searching for a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house in East Vancouver, according to a release from Sgt. Steve Addison on Saturday. Kenneth Nolan Kirton, 56, is a declared dangerous offender and is considered a high risk to sexually offend, police say. He is currently bound by a long-term supervision order that requires him to stay at the halfway house.
Kirton signed out just after 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon and was reported missing the following morning when he didn’t return. Police are asking anyone who sees Kirton or knows of his whereabouts to call 911 immediately.
Kirton is described as being five-foot-six and 165 lbs with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black, long-sleeve sweater, dark blue jeans, and black shoes. The Vancouver Police have confirmed that Kirton is wanted Canada-wide.
The news of Kirton’s escape has caused alarm in the community, as he is considered a high-risk offender. Vancouver police have issued a warning to residents to be on the lookout for Kirton and to call 911 if they see him.
