Health Canada is issuing recalls for child car seats and seatbelt vests that could pose an injury risk.
Child Secure Seatbelt Vest and Toddler Child Car Booster Seat sold in different colours online at joygeneralstore.com are being recalled after Health Canada determined that using these restraints in a motor vehicle could heighten the risk of an injury if involved in a collision.
These products may have also been sold through other online marketplaces.
“Consumers who have these affected products should immediately stop using them and safely dispose of the items in such a way that they cannot be used again,” Health Canada said in its recall warning.
These products also do not display Transport Canada’s National Safety Mark and haven’t been certified to meet the safety requirements of the Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations.
“The use of these restraints in a motor vehicle would be considered illegal under provincial and territorial highway regulations,” the recall said.
The affected products have been removed from sale at joygeneralstore.com. Health Canada has contacted the company and is advising Canadians to immediately stop using these restraints in their vehicles.
No incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported.
Health Canada is reminding consumers to report any health or safety incidents related these products or any other consumer product by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
