KMS Construction claim Original 16 Cash League championship

With the way things had gone for Ben Gamble and his KMS Construction foursome throughout the Original 16 Cash League playoffs, it’s safe to say they had plenty of confidence heading into the final on Wednesday night.

Still, when it comes to playing for a title, any advantage you can have is certainly a bonus.

And based on how things turned out, a World Wheelchair Curling Championship medal is a boost indeed.

Gamble and third Braydan Mohns welcomed back second Gil Dash and lead Marie Wright fresh off their silver-medal showing with Team Canada at the Worlds in Richmond, B.C., and the foursome would go on to a 7-3 victory over Protec Studios and Tyler Krupski at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Gamble wasted little time getting going, and by the fourth end pretty much had things in hand. He’d score one in the first and steal a pair in each of the next two frames for a quick 5-0 lead, and after holding Krupski to one in the fourth, picked up another deuce to go up 7-2. Krupski got two back in the sixth, but decided to call it a night.

Krupski took the ice with skip Wade Gray, third Brian Mohns and second Candace Newkirk, and there was an additional interesting twist — it just happened to be Brian’s birthday, but son Braydan didn’t take it easy on his dad despite the milestone.

Other consolation results on the night saw BTN Chartered Accountants (Penny Barker) score four in the second end and go on to a 8-5 win over John’s Music (Ryan Wenarchuk), Pro-Tec Electric (Stan Barnsley) score four in the first and take an 8-4 win over EMJ Marketing (Joe Gunnis), KalTire (Dustin Woloschuk) score points in the final four ends for a 7-2 win over Pups Parlour (Jaedon Miller), Fountain Tire (Barry Silk) score two in the final end for a 4-3 win over Matt Froehlich and Rod Montgomery take a 6-4 win over R.K. Sunview Farms (Dayne Heisler).
